Twenty Questions #3: Do You Have Two or More Children?

Four ToddlersWith each child, the chance of argument increases. Even if your children are the best of friends, there can still be issues. After you pass, emotions are high and something you may think of as a tiny problem can become huge. With each child, the chance for argument increases over issues such as: who should be in charge and who gets what in the distribution of personal property (even if they share equally by law). They might even argue over the differences between the children and their individual needs.

Losing a parent is hard enough but add on the difficulty of no planning or poor planning and children spend time arguing instead of being able to grieve. Preparing a comprehensive estate plan that is very personalized can solve all of these problems. In a personalized estate plan, you can make specific gifts and distributions to your children.

Consider that there is nothing as unfair as treating unequals equally. Your children are not equal and they have different wants and needs. With proper estate planning, you can plan for those different wants and needs.
