eBook CoverEveryone Should Have an Estate Plan

No one knows when tragedy may strike. Whether you have a mansion, a modest home or just a bunch of items in an old, beat-up duffle bag, everyone needs an estate plan. But what exactly is an estate plan? Simply put, an estate plan is a set of instructions. These instructions explain what will happen to your possessions after you die. But estate plans aren’t only for when you die; they can also leave instructions for what happens if you are in a coma, disappear, or become incapacitated. When you have an estate plan, YOU are in charge of the following decisions:

  • How is your money used
  • Who makes health care decisions about you if you can’t make them yourself
  • Whether or not you should be disconnected from life support
  • Who raises your minor children if you are unable to do so
  • Who receives your financial assets and personal property

Fortunately, YOU can make all of these decisions and preserve a lasting legacy for your heirs if you take the initiative and create a strong estate plan.

I created Estate Planning for Beginners to assist people in creating an estate plan. This book is a manual, NOT an actual estate plan. The worksheets at the end of the chapters are there to help you gather all the information you’ll need for your estate plan, but they are not legal documents. Besides giving you information about estate planning, the worksheets will help you keep track of the decisions you’ll need to make. This book will guide and educate you through your journey so that when your lawyer starts talking gobbledygook, you’ll understand what he’s saying and you’ll be able to design the best estate plan possible for your situation.
